PERHENTIAN consists of Perhentian Besar and Perhentian Kecil, the
latter being more popular because of its happening beach at Pasir
Panjang. Most people use the ferry service at Kuala Besut to get to the
Perhentian islands, which are 25km away.
Perhentian Kecil has a stretch of a! ordable one-, two- and three-star
resorts which are popular with backpackers. Tourists flock here to get
away from the city, scuba dive, snorkel, kayak, fish or just sunbathe and
swim in the crystal clear water around the island. Other fun activities
include deep sea fishing, surfing, sailing, boating and canoeing.
Many Padi-certified dive operators have set up shop on Perhentian
Kecil, and they usually have their own diving sites, some of which have
exotic names.
