Bukit Mertajam is a town in Central Seberang Perai, Penang, Malaysia. It is commonly known as BM among its locals.

The historical St. Anne's Church is situated in Bukit Mertajam. Bukit Mertajam High School (established 18 January, 1927) and Jit Sin High School, which are among the top-performing schools in the country, are also located in Bukit Mertajam. BM High School is also a former school of present Prime Minister Dato Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Bukit Mertajam is also only a plane ride away from the War Museum at Bukit Batu Maung, which was previously the site of a 1930s British submarine pen. The submarine pen was built to protect Penang Island from roving pirates. Another option is to drive to the island using the Penang Bridge.
