Tinggi Island

Chinese seamen once called this island the “Generals’ Hat Island” because of its conical shape. Tinggi, meaning “tall”, has a sheltered harbour, lots of fresh water and an extinct volcano standing 667m above sea level. Tinggi has a long coastline of white sandy beaches and is dotted with caves that made it an important stopover for spice traders and smugglers for more than 600 years.
Swim in the cool clear water or go snorkeling where an underwater treasure trove awaits. The sea around teems with coral, fish and reef making it a photographic haven, De Dreamz Island Resort offers chalet accommodation, restaurant, swimming pool, meeting and entertainment facilities.
Jetty: About and hour from Mersing ferry terminal by hired boats.

Things to do: Visit the Marine Park Centre and Turtle-breeding Centre for interesting information on conservation programmes in the Mersing Marine Park and enjoy the rustic rural environment of island villages.
